I really don't know why dashcams and GPS tracking are not mandatory in taxis, they have saved many a taxi drivers bacon.
Quite apart from fare dodgers and the ever present danger of being robbed, being falsely accused of rape is extremely common for taxi drivers. I have lost count of the number of these there have been.
Another recent case that highlights the importance of electronic evidence as a defence against false allegations, this time involving false allegations of threats to kill in a custody/divorce case where a non molestation order was in place. If only they prosecuted every false accuser:
