This might be a case of mistaken identity on my behalf but this case has a very familiar name attached to it, solicitor Paul Legg, once of the always reliable Freemans in London but later known to me to be working down south. ( solicitors often move firms so apologies if I am out of date here )

His reputation is excellent and I have personally seen many clients sing Mr Leggs praises. His last known location can be found on our sols thread/map.

Anyway, a successful appeal, CPS offer no evidence for a retrial. great work.

I did a huge amount of work on that appeal. When we came out of the courtroom at CoA counsel said "this is down to you. You would keep pushing me". Nice to be acknowledged once in a while. I did a legal visit to this client on the IoW before the appeal. If that appeal had failed he would still be serving a 15 year sentence. Ex wife didn't like the idea of him having more input in his children's lives + immediately after he changed his profile on Facebook to "Engaged", that is when the allegations came out.

I am seeing more and more of these cases where ex wives lie about alleged assaults on themselves, or on their children.

In the above case (and in the news article), his lawyers did NOT apply for a retrial. That was the CPS. Defence do not request retrials because they could result in another wrongful conviction.

Great stuff RF and good to hear from you. I had no idea that this was one of your cases and I'm not sure that this was the one with Barrister Matthew Scott but I hope that you cannot include me in those that don't give you enough credit.
