I've responded to it in their online comment, stating that I wish those who advocated against anonymity could come on here and see the torment those who are falsely accused go through and perhaps it might open their eyes.

I have read the article and added my green arrow votes.I have also emailed Lord Campbell-savours re our personal case of FA. He has replied writing that he will take a question or two regarding polygraph tests(which I mentioned in my email) during the course of proceedings on the bill dealing with anonimity for rape defendants. Would anyone who has posted on this subject and has/still is going through the torture please,please email or write to this or any
of the other lords or your MP so that thet can see how many men/women are
having their lives ruined by this unequal,unfair law.

I would just be wary of the lie detection option - I was threatened with having one two years ago. While I have no problem with any truth-finding method for those who don't believe me, it is a common fallacy for polygraphs to provide the truth.
The results they can provide vary from about 62% to about 97% depending on who gives them. Generally the tv programmes that use them like to claim a huge success figure, when in reality you would have more chances per 100 of finding out if someone was lying or telling the truth, by consulting the tea leaves.
The danger isn't so much that the polygraph is inherently wrong by design, it's that no one who uses them will ever admit they are wrong, and a lot of damage can be done to someone in the name of "the machine doesn't lie."

The problem with polygraphs is that they monitor your heart rate, sweat production, etc. And if you are asked a question and you know that the veracity of the answer holds the key to real justice and your freedom, then naturally your heart rate will rise and your hands will sweat. The same is true of genuine victims. If they are asked to recall a terrifying ordeal, then of course that will be reflected in their pulse and sweat.

So unfortunately despite what we are told, polygraphs are hugely unreliable. It's a real shame that we don't have a foolproof lie-detector test.

We do. MRI scanning, but too expensive to use, and still in its infancy re this kind of usage.

I hadn't thought of that LS. But of course it's the logical answer, albeit expensive and not proven. Yet. We need a billionaire who is willing to invest some serious cash into it. If I win the lottery I will offer up the cash!

^also lots of people can't have MRIs such as people with implants in their teeth, metal plates in their heads and claustrophobics.
