It's reasonable to think and hope that the court case will be the end of everything but unfortunately it often isn't. Things may well settle down and people may realise that it's not worth 'taking things into their own hands', but as Peter 1975 says, even close families are sometimes split asunder by these kinds of allegations. Part of 'after the court case' is the realisation that relationships will not be the same as before and contact has to be severed or continue to be severed with some.

It's horrible, but things will get different if not better and you will be able to make a new life beyond court proceedings. It might not be exactly as you imagined it, probably won't be, but it will happen. Every so often someone comes on here and lets us know months if not years after the even how things are going for them. Hand in there and keep posting. There's support for as long as you need it.

Well his mum and step dad haven't had a good relationship for a while, he's known to lie so knowing he said he supported my OH and then deciding he doesn't is no surprise really.

Next week is a new week, we can start to move forward

Oh dear! That's a shame. Your poor Mum. :-( But yes, next week is a new week and I hope that things start to get better for you all.
