I'm currently waiting for CPS to make a decision on whether to take me to court.
The issue was my previous workplace where I was supervisor.
We buy and sell stock from customers on a day to day basis.
We had a buying scheme called "We won't be beaten", where we would beat every price that anyone else were offering and also adding extra to the payouts to customers if they were not happy with the price. I was told by all of corporate AND my owners/OPS managers that we were able to do this with every customer and we could do as much extra as we like as long as the money we gave out did not exceed the price we sold the item for. As the extra added money also gets refunded to the company in credit anyways, so it wasn't money to lose.
My manager done it for his friends and family and I mentioned about doing it for my girlfriend as she was moving out of home and had of lot of unwanted items to sell. He was fine with this.
So over a few months, she came in every Sunday (her day off) to trade her items in and I added money on to the transactions like I would any other customer (and not exceed it the selling price AT ALL). It was all 100% fine to do in my mind as my manager was doing also (just not as often).
In February 2016, I was fired from my work for doing this, I explained everything and also that other people were doing this but they did not care.
They reported me to the police and after a month and a bit, I was called in with my girlfriend for a voluntary interview.
My work also took three weeks of my pay (£750) and all of my holiday I had that year (unknown amount).
They're still claiming I owe them £1000. Which is not true as they told me it was £1200 when I was fired and they obviously have not calculated this properly with my pay they took. And all they told the police was that the original amount was "£1000+".
So I had a voluntary interview with the police to explain my side, which I did and told them the truth and that I did not even realise that this was a sackable offence, let alone a criminal one.
Now they passed the information onto the CPS, or I thought they did. They got in contact with me almost two weeks ago to inform me they were JUST sending off the information to the CPS. So now it's been well over six weeks to the original police interview. And almost four months since the incident/dismissal took place.
My questions are, how long can the CPS take with this?
And am I worrying over nothing here?
I would also like to add that I have NEVER been in trouble with the police before, in any way. Never even seen the inside of a police station until now.
