Hi, I found this forum by googling 'Rape Discussion Forum'. I have become more and more bothered by recent witch-hunts not only for sexual miscreants, but also for anybody who dares to express an opinion, or use a word, in a way which is not immediately acceptable to the chattering classes. I'm thinking about Lord Freud's and Lord Heseltine's recent contributions to the discussion about welfare and disability.
But the issue which has brought me here is the Ched Evans case, and I am about to post a reply on the Ched Evans thread which is on a different part of this forum. Michael Buerk's trailer for last week's Moral Maze was, in my opinion, entirely reasonable and accurate, but he was forced to rephrase it because it mentioned the fact that the woman involved in the case was drunk. But - wait a minute - she was drunk! So what did Michael Buerk do wrong? And, as an experienced journalist, why did he not stand up for his duty to state the facts?
