  • The true criminals of society !!

A police officer who killed a teenager while driving at 94mph without a siren or flashing lights has been jailed for three years.

    http://uk.news.yahoo.com/4/20090501/...d-dba1618.html

Who are the true criminals in our society? I dont think we need to look far for the answer do we!!

But Dougal, a qualified advanced driver, was travelling so fast he had effectively become a passenger in his own car and had surrendered "to physics", according to a police driving instructor who gave evidence during the trial.

He said he saw Hayley and tried to brake and steer away from her, but could not.

If this has been one of us it would have been manslaughter and 3 yrs is a joke, he should have had 20 !!! I hope the lads inside eat him alive the scum of our society believe themselves to be above the law and protected by the state they are supposed to protect NOT KILL.

    Frank,

I appreciate what you are saying and it's not great but that's just written as flamebait. Feel free to discuss this article but please don't rant and don't go OTT.

yes its awful that death caused by dangerous driving has such a pathetic sentence but this is true regardless of whether its a police officer driving or anyone else. i don't know if you remember any of the cases in the last few months when children have been killed by dangerous drivers and the sentence has been nothing, i vaguely remember two children dying when a footballer was speeding.

you seem to regard police officers as non-human but actually its their job. they break the law, they get points on their licenses just like non-police officers. i was watching traffic cops (yes i was bored) and one of the police officers giving people points on their license said he had 3 points on his.

i think it would be far more useful to regard police officers as normal people in funny clothes. this does NOT excuse any criminal action done by them but prevents you expecting them to be demi-gods rather than humans who are, by definition, flawed.

        Hi webmoo

I totally understand your warning about going OTT, hense my post stated there are guidelines about the way the Police should conduct themselves and like everyone else they should be held accountable if they abuse guidelines and procedures.

No one is wanting to deny the Police the right to use excess speed where approriate, only that they do so in a controlled and regulated manner. Here they clearly didnt and to claim one is innocent is incomprehensible and inexcusable.

The same goes for other ways they conduct themselves when there are guidelines they should follow, they are the ones who are to blame, we only point out their failures to comply.
